The purpose of Friends of San Rafael is to financially assist the City of San Rafael with the cost of public projects and programs. This assistance includes providing funding toward the construction of public buildings such as community centers, community parks, or other public improvements, as well as supporting educational, cultural, social and recreational programs operated by the City.

Friends of San Rafael is a 501(c)(3) organization and accepts tax deductible donations. The funds raised by Friends are provided to the City as needed for the completion of construction of capital projects and/or to operate City programs.
