Freitas ParkThe City of San Rafael and
Terra Linda Homeowners Association invite you to join our partnership
to create the long awaited children’s playground in Maria T. Freitas
Park. Located in north San Rafael, Freitas Park underwent a significant
renovation in 1999, returning the park to public use. The planned
playground, however, was not installed due to funding limitations. We
are energized to complete the park plan the community developed ten
years ago.
Freitas Park has a water play feature, lush landscape, game tables,
walking paths, bench seating, large grass areas and picnic facilities.
It has stunning views of the surrounding neighborhoods, hillsides and
ridge tops of the Terra Linda valley. The playground site is located on
a knoll that takes advantage of those views and will include features
for pre school and elementary age children, bench seating, fencing for
security, picnic tables, landscape and shade trees. It will be a
memorable site for play, relaxation refreshment and observation.
Children and their families will be drawn to the playground for healthy
activity. The amenities will be attractive also for neighborhood
elders, students of St. Mark’s, St. Isabella’s, Vallecito and Terra
Linda High schools, residents of Nazarene House, along with employees
and visitors of Kaiser Permanente Hospital. The playground in Freitas
Park will be the only public playground within a mile radius. The need
for, and value of the Freitas Park playground drives our partnership to
raise $150,000 for its installation. Will you join us?
